Raw Air Tournament - Gone with the wind

Everybody knows that skijumping is an open air sport. But if the wind thwart the plans it`s despite annoying, because everyone was looking forward to the competition. It's no use - like today. The cancelled competition should be made up this afternoon. But the wind, the wind, the heaven-born wind! Another competition had to be cancelled and the replaced qualification for the competition on Sunday should take place again. But the wind ... it was time to wait and see, wait and see. The trial round and so the qualification has been postponed very often. Finally 19:30 the first jumpers left the bakken. And one hour later, hard to believe, the qualification started. Even under difficult conditions, but all athletes came down safe.

Now let`s have a look at the results. Best man was Robert Johansson. In training he jumped on 232,5 meters and became 11th with 200,5 meters in the qualification. Afterwards follow him his teammate Andreas Stjernen which has shown a jump on 213,5 metes in the trial round and who landed on 196,5 meters in the qualification (place 12th). Third-best was Halvor Egner Granerud as 15th with 210,0 meters (trial round: 151,5 meters). Close behind him landed Johann André Forfang on place 17th with 196,0 meters - the same width like in the training.

The prequalified Daniel-André Tande jumped only on 182,5 meters. His training jump was much better: 222,0 meters. With a jump on 196,5 meters became Anders Fannemel 25th, who landed exact on 200,0 meters in the trial round. The last one, who got qualified is Joacim Ødegård Bjøreng as 39th with a jump on 185,0 meters (trial round: 199,0 meters).

Unfortunately not qualified are Joakim Aune (55th: 156,5 meters, trial round: 178,0 meters), Fredrik Bjerkeengen (60th: 168,0 meters, trial round: 169,5 meters) and Tom Hilde (61th: 146,0 meters, trial round: 174,0 meters).

As scheduled starts tomorrow the team competition at 16:15 (trial round at 15:00).
